Tribute to MARIA DA FÉ

On the stage of Teatro São Luiz, António Zambujo, Camané, Duarte and Francisco Salvação Barreto, some of Fado’s greatest male voices, pay tribute to Maria da Fé, creator of countless songs that have taken root in the history of Fado and in our collective imagination. Born in Porto, she became one of the most important artists of her generation, a central figure in the history of Fado, with a decisive contribution to the consecration of this musical genre on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO).

She performed in theatre, cinema and television, performing in concerts on the world’s greatest stages for several decades. A major artist in the history of Fado, creator of an absolutely unique repertoire, she also played a decisive role in the development of several generations of Fado artists, making her fado house, Sr. Vinho, a privileged stage for the training of successive generations of artists. In the intimate atmosphere of this establishment, which she founded in 1975 with José Luís Gordo and António Mello Corrêa, great fado voices such as Mariza, Camané, Aldina Duarte, Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Duarte, Francisco Salvação Barreto, Gisela João, Jorge Fernando, Sara Paixão, among many other extraordinary artists, have flourished.
