IV Anniversary Fado Heritage of Humanity

On the 27th of November, 2011, in Bali, UNESCO inscribed Fado in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List and the song of Lisbon became universal.

Four years later there are plenty of reasons to celebrate: the exponential growth in the number of concerts in Portugal and abroad; the many Fado Festivals held in cities around the world; the temporary exhibitions in Paris, Madrid, Seville, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Bogota, Seoul; the Fado Virtual Map, currently available worldwide at the Fado Museum website, and a novelty - the Digital Archive of Fado. This forthcoming online database will be the largest national collection of historical recordings.

For all of the previous reasons and more, the Fado Museum celebrates the IV Anniversary of the Fado Consecration as Intangible Heritage of Humanity with some very special events. All of these initiatives will be free of charge.
