Criative Workshop

At the Fado Museum we find music, poetry, painting, cinema, history and many stories. Which one do you want to take with you?

In this workshop we will build a mini-museum inspired by the origami technique. Thus, you will create a small collection of your memories and your look at this journey that is to know the History of Fado. The workshop includes a guided tour of the Museum's permanent exhibition.

Junior Ethnomusicology Workshops

What is Ethnomusicology? This workshop offers an introduction to the concepts and methodologies of ethnomusicology: the concept of heritage, what is fieldwork, collection and safeguarding of tangible and intangible heritage, and the creation of life stories, among many other core aspects of an approach to the good safeguarding practices of our cultural heritage.

Sound Chest

Music Workshop

Pedagogical music workshop addressing different types of Fado interpreted by the Portuguese music ensemble “Baú”.

Lighted Fado

Shadow Workshop

Workshop aiming at exploring the world of Fado with light beams, projections, shadows and magical lanterns, and learning some of the different techniques used in shadow plays. At the end of this workshop a short concert of light and shadow Fado will take place.

Fado Dance

Dance Workshop

Nowadays it is quite unusual and surprising to dance the Fado. The way we feel it will also be different in this workshop. The motion, the dance, our body expression and our imagination will be our work material. Get ready for great fun and joy. Without, however, forgetting to contemplate the silence, that attentive companion.

Lisbon Vases

Clay Sculpting Workshop

Hanging from our windowsills, vases are accomplices and witnesses of many stories, friendships and songs. In this workshop we will try different modelling techniques and manufacture a vase for new adventures!

Fados, Cries, Quatrains and Sonnets for Grandchildren and Greatgrandchildren

Reading, Writing and Oral Tradition Workshop

Guided by memorable characters with unique stories and professions – like Rosa Lavadeira or Ilda Varina – all participants get acquainted with cries, fados, poems and songs in a very original way. From the oral tradition to the major Portuguese literature classics, including various authors and major works encompassed in the official educative curricula, duly adjusted to the different age groups and schooling levels. Using games and surprising and funny interactions, children are invited to join different creative writing activities, using rhymes and onomatopoeia, and producing texts of different kinds of genres and style, from different points of view, and using a new lexicon. Finally, participants will develop their expressive reading and declamation skills – both individually and in group - using various types of languages.
