(17 April, 1969)

Carla Cristina Madeira de Sousa was born in Bairro Alto, where she lived until she was 10 years old. Her Lisbon experience combines with family roots in Coimbra.

She began her artistic career singing in the choir of the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Bonança, in Largo do Rato, but the taste for singing has been present since childhood. And it was by feeling that desire that her interpretations were very appreciated which led her to decided to pursue a musical career.

Her first areas of activity were at the Festas da Cidade de Lisboa and in St. Anthony's Festivities. But it was in Fado that she felt the strength of his interpretation and, since then, she took it as her form of musical expression.
