Júlio Pomar and his relationship with the universe of Fado is the object of the exhibition which opens in 2015 and which highlights the plastic and poetic work that the painter has dedicated to the genre. Painter but also poet: he is the Artist in all his breadth who not only portrays fado, but becomes a protagonist, signing verses that are sung by some of the most prominent fado singers today.

Owner of an unusual artistic longevity, Júlio Pomar never ceases to experiment, to rehearse new perspectives, to reinvent himself. And it brings to fado that curiosity that manifests itself in the good-natured way he plays with the words - Man, love is urgent / Don't end people - or in the irony that permeates his works, as in the meeting of Alfredo Marceneiro and Fernando Pessoa or even on the donkeys he painted playing the guitar.

"Without Caprice or Presumption - Fado by Júlio Pomar & New Donations" is curated by Sara Pereira (Museu do Fado) and Sara Antónia Matos (AMJP) and results from the crossing of affinities of the two institutions. In addition to the nucleus devoted to the presence of fado in the plastic work of Júlio Pomar, at the Museu do Fado, the Atelier-Museu Júlio Pomar presents a set of works that have recently been part of his estate, deposited by the Júlio Pomar Foundation.
