Ricardo Ribeiro and Rabih Abou-Khalil with Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa

5 YEARS OF FADO – INTANGIBLE HERITAGE OF HUMANITY

RICARDO RIBEIRO AND RABIH ABOU-KHALIL WITH ORQUESTRA METROPOLITANA DE LISBOA
Toada de Portalegre of José Régio

Thursday to Saturday 9 PM; Luis Miguel Cintra Theatre; M/6
€11 - €22 (CONCESSION TICKETS €5 - €17.60)

For a long time, Ricardo Ribeiro has dreamt of singing José Régio's Toada de Portalegre, with original music by his friend and "master" Rabih Abou-Khalil. For years, we have witnessed the coming together of these two musicians  as they forge an encounter between fado and the echoes of Lebanon's musical tradition.  The husky melody of Camões' language, as Ricardo Ribeiro so aptly describes, blends with the melodic arabesques and rhythms composed by Abou-Khalil. Accompanied by the American percussionist Jarrod Cagwin and by Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa, conducted by Jan Wierzba, these storytellers take us to marvellous locales.
